Quick Stop in Atlanta

Since our flight home didn't leave until 5pm, we had the chance to visit the CNN Center in Atlanta.

We didn't realize that Cartoon Network, which airs one of Colin's favorite shows Clone Wars, was a part of the Turner Broadcasting Corp. Sadly they run that channel from another location.

Nothing like a picture with a cardboard cutout of Wolf Blitzer.

We were able to take a tour of the CNN studios, which was a total blast for Colin since he's been working on the RCNN team at school. This was big time stuff and even cooler than seeing the Microsoft studios. We learned all sorts of cool facts about what it takes to run a 24 hour news channel. Toward the end of the tour, you get to watch the live telecast in progress from an upstairs glass enclosed viewing platform. We got to watch Ali Velshi in the studio.

After visiting CNN, we walked through Olympic Centennial Park. It's hard to believe the summer Olympics were there over 14 years ago and it was before that since I had been to Atlanta. The water fountain where Colin is sitting above is in the shape of the Olympic rings. It's too bad we couldn't stay longer and visit the Coca Cola museum, but we were also excited to get back home.
